It was an unexpected intention because the company’s beginning to Sapa was just for the purpose of rest and relaxation. However, many factors happened and the company turned the trip into a huge humanitarian project aimed at improving the education and quality of life for the children living there.
The project in this Sapa trip will include a visit to a local school. This school in such a remote area will often receive little support and lack in many ways. Most of the students come from disadvantaged families, and they do not have any modern educational tools such as computers and laptops.
From personal experience and feeling, this is also a part of the great social responsibility that the company is aiming for. Soon after, Mr. Dan decided to solve the problem himself. Dan on foods supports the school with 8 desktop computers, 2 mobile laptops and a set of microphones and speakers. All are within the purpose of training, helping children foster modern technology skills, opening new avenues for discovery and learning, and providing them with the tools and resources to improve their lives and their education.
Besides the educational tools, Dan also delivered a massive quantity of nutritious foodstuff from our own products and our partners’. Our goal and vision is to provide nourishment for both the body and mind, to enable the children to develop strong bodies and sharp minds which can be utilized to improve their community. Alongside the foodstuff, we have also set up a service to deliver fresh milk to the children weekly to supplement their dietary needs.

As we don’t seek to do good just once and then forget about the children after we felt good about ourselves, we wish to provide them with long-term solutions that will still benefit them even after we leave.
In Phase 2 we will renovate their classrooms and dormitories, provide them with better sanitation, and beautify their school in order to bring pride and love for learning. The Dan On Foundation is dedicated to social development and community work. Our mandate is to provide equal opportunity for children in rural areas.
Through this foundation, we also provide sponsorship for university research, scholarship for noteworthy students, support the Deaf, Blind, and Disabled communities, and provide the local schoolchildren with gifts during the holidays. The Dan On Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Mr. Dan On. On a business trip to Vietnam in 1992, he witnessed many children soliciting in the streets of Ho Chi Minh City.
Moved by their plight and determined to alleviate their hardship, he decided to aid the Deaf & Mute Schools as well as funded the to teach them the skills and language needed to escape the vicious poverty cycle. The program has been successfully run by several schools and over 30 nuns. For this humanitarian project, Dan On Foods provide the funding to the Dan On Foundation with the help of donations from
our business associates.
